"the Andalusian dog howls-someone has died!”
What in the ever loving hell is this. I've seen some weird shit before but this is some weird shit. The most concrete impression I get from this is of a surreal expressionist painting. I suppose that makes sense with Salvador Dali contributing to it. I get the sense you are not supposed to "understand" this film so much as you are supposed to experience and feel it. And the feeling I have from it is total discomfort. I will say it did shock me, that's for sure. Not something I can say about any other film from this era so far.
The french are weird, man.
Not so fun-fact: David Bowie showed the entire film to concert goers during his 1976 tour.
